Earlier this week HP has confirmed its split into two divisions for its own betterment. Following its lead the security firm Symantec has also might have made the decision to split. Reports for Bloomberg suggested that the security giant tech may split in two.
The report cited unnamed people connected and with knowledge of the matter who suggested that the security firm is in “advanced” talks to break up its business. One of the resulting companies would sell Symantec’s security programs while the other would offer data storage options.
The move to split into two divisions might be announced officially in the next few weeks although the company has declined to comment on the rumor when contacted by a media firm.
If the rumor turns into reality, that is if the split happens according the plans, Symantec would be the latest in a string of firms who have announced similar moves in recent weeks. EBay in late September revealed plans to separate form PayPal in 2015. This move was announced for their betterment as it was stated that the companies will be able to pursue new markets and partnerships independently.
The other company with the same set plans and to split recently is the Hewlett-Packard.The company split into two publicly traded companies.
The Symantec rumor comes after the company has trimmed its Norton security line from nine products to one. The flagship solution, dubbed Norton Security, will include all the functions of the security firm’s existing products.
Will this rumor turns into reality? Will have to wait for following weeks for the announcement.
